NYS DOH Compliant
Good morning PCS families,
As I am sure many of you have heard, read, or seen on TV, the CDC released some new recommendations for people who are fully vaccinated. They stated that fully vaccinated people can “resume activities without wearing masks, or physically distancing, except where required by federal, state. Local, tribal, or territorial laws, rules and regulations.” As you can imagine, this news resulted in many questions as to how these new recommendations impact schools.
At this point, it is important to point out that the CDC offers recommendations ONLY. Each state uses the recommendations from the CDC (as well as other reputable organizations like the World Health Organization) to either update their guidance or keep it the same. Schools are under the direction of the New York State Department of Health and their local departments of health, and are required to follow their guidance.
We will wait patiently to see what the NYS DOH decides to do with these updated recommendations, but we are going to continue to follow current guidance.
On a positive note, we have many activities in place for May and June for our students. We are trying to offer as much as possible in as normal conditions as possible, but some things will be different based on the current rules. Follow this link to May and June calendars with specific activities that will be going on: https://www.prattsburghcsd.org/cms/lib/NY02205377/Centricity/Domain/8/May%20June%202021%20Calendar%20final.pdf. We will also have these activities on our district calendar located on our website.
More specific information on each event will continue to be shared so stay tuned.
As always, thank you for your continued support and reach out with any question or concerns.
